FHI conducts equine events which draw regional, national, and international visitors to our community.  With a small staff and hundreds of volunteers, we work to offer unique experiences for competitors, spectators and families at the Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area.

Our primary mission is to conduct amateur- and professional-level equestrian competitions and special events in Eventing, Combined Driving and Endurance Riding.  Our goal is to support equestrian athletes from beginner through national and international levels.

We are committed to be environmental stewards of Fair Hill as well.  Within our lease agreement with the state of Maryland, we promise to keep fields clean and safe; follow good agriculture practices; comply with soil and water quality plans; comply with nutrient management plans; maintain safe and proper footing; minimize erosion; and control weeds and noxious plants.

Since we began conducting events in 1989 — Horse Trials, Schoolings, an Endurance Ride (Foxcatcher), a Driving Trial (Elk Creek) — we have proven that such activities can be accomplished in a manner consistent with preserving/enhancing the beauty of Fair Hill.

We never charge the public for admission to our competitions, but once a year we ask for assistance from our community of friends.  Costs for maintaining/replacing equipment, driving obstacles, stadium and cross-country jumps, and caring for acres of beautiful countryside are challenging.
