Since 2021, Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area has hosted the Maryland CCI5*, CCI3*-L and the Young Event Horse (YEH) East Coast Championships, earning local, national, and international acclaim. With Fair Hill International, Inc. playing a critical role in managing the competitions, the October event has drawn thousands of spectators, sponsors, vendors and riders who have witnessed the beauty and challenges of equine competition at Fair Hill.
Following the 2025 event, the state of Maryland chose to surrender its license as organizer of the October event. Select Event Group, based in Laurel, Maryland, stepped in to become the organizer, with the intention to conduct the CCI3*-L and the Young Event Horse (YEH) Championships in 2026, but pause the CCI5* in 2026 and restart it in October 2027 at Fair Hill.
On October 8, 2026, Select announced (See announcement here.) they will not be the organizer for the 2027 Maryland 5 Star, but they will continue their collaboration with Fair Hill International, Inc. (FHI) to present the CCI3*-L and the YEH Championships – October 15-18.
With the recent announcement by Select that they will not be the organizer for the October 2027 Maryland 5 Star event, Fair Hill International, Inc. (FHI) will support efforts to secure a “viable long-term funding model” for the Maryland 5 Star. FHI will also seek pathways to ensure the CCI3*-L and the Young Event Horse East Coast Championships will remain at the Fair Hill venue in 2027 and beyond.
2026 Details: This year’s event will not be a ticketed event. There will not be concessions or shopping. There will be a designated spectator parking area available for those who would like to come watch the competition.
