Since 2021, Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area has hosted the Maryland CCI5*, CCI3*-L and the Young Event Horse (YEH) East Coast Championships, earning local, national, and international acclaim. With Fair Hill International, Inc. playing a critical role in managing the competitions, the October event has drawn thousands of spectators, sponsors, vendors and riders who have witnessed the beauty and challenges of equine competition at Fair Hill.
Following the 2025 event, the state of Maryland chose to surrender its license as organizer of the October event. Select Event Group, based in Laurel, Maryland, stepped in to become the organizer. “Select is eager to build on the momentum created over the past several years and to thoughtfully broaden what the event can be,” said Alex Corgan, President of Select Event Group.
In 2026, Select will present the CCI3*-L and YEH Championships — October 16 -18. Fair Hill international, Inc. will assist in managing the competitions. With new leadership, the CCI5* will pause in 2026 with plans to restart at Fair Hill in October 2027. In a statement, the Fair Hill Foundation said, “This pause reflects confidence — not uncertainty. It is a proactive step grounded in responsible stewardship and a shared belief that the Maryland 5 Star deserves the time, leadership, and operational depth required to thrive for decades to come.”
2026 Details: This year’s event will not be a ticketed event. There will not be concessions or shopping. There will be a designated spectator parking area available for those who would like to come watch the competition. GPS address for spectators is 500 Gallaher Road, Elkton, MD.
CCI3*-L: Friday through Sunday, October 16 -18. Dressage & Show Jumping in Gallaher Rd Main Arena. Cross Country in Sawmill & Middle Hay Fields. Maximum number of horses will be 55.
USEA Young Event Horse 4- and 5-year-old East Coast Championships: Friday through Saturday, October 16-17. All phases at Gallaher Road. The 4yo will be capped at 40 horses, and the 5yo will be capped at 50 horses.
